Re: LCD Flashes On At Bootup-Then Fades

I should also mention when the screen boots up, it sometimes displays the Thinkpad logo, then immediately becomes stark white. It takes about 3 seconds but it stays white till I shut it down , but it gets to the point where I can't see a thing. I can still hear windows booting normally though via th...

LCD Flashes On At Bootup-Then Fades

My son's T60p is displaying a phenomenon I've never before experienced before in a Thinkpad in all my years of using them. When I switch on the laptop, I briefly see the Thinkpad Logo, then it fades out and the screen goes blank. Then it boots up and after a while the screen would get bright then di...

Actually this didn't take very long-although I can't tell you how long since I didn't monitor it. All I know is that I left for a couple hours and the upgrade was done by the time I came home.

X301 Windows 7 Ultimate RTM Sucessful Upgrade

Just installed Win 7 Ultimate on my X301. Not a clean install, but actually an upgrade from Windows Vista Business. Went off without a hitch. Installed all the available Win 7 RTM beta drivers which also made for a smoother upgrade. So far so good, no issues at the moment. Be sure to apply some opti...

Advantages of Win Vista 64

Maybe this has been answered before, but my search didn't really net me the answers I'm looking for. I'm contemplating upgrading my X301 to Vista 64 from Vista 32. What real advantages does upgrading provide? I realize 32 to 64 bit computing, but in real world performance and stability, as it relate...

Re: How Long To Restore Vista 32 Business to 128Gb SSD X200?

After 5 hours, I finally pulled the plug and started all over. The second time around this went for about 90 minutes to complete. Much more like it.

There must have been some kind of glitch in the first process.

How Long To Restore Vista 32 Business to 128Gb SSD X200?

It's been going for almost 3 hours with the please wait screen after it seemed to be chugging along. This is a factory disc full restore. The hdd light flashes every second or so.

Usually NewEgg would return without a restock fee if there is a compatibility issue, especially if you re-order an alternate compatible module. I know its probably not much. Be sure to post your experience with the Crucial RAM. I've ordered them myself!

Re: X301 128Gb Vista Business Freezes-Requires Hard Reboot

I haven't turned off system restore, it comes in handy sometimes. I don't use Photoshop, so there can be no complaints there. Now we see if these TWEAKS work. I found most if not all the suggestions on OCZ forums pretty well thought out and logical, so I implemented most of them, except turning off ...

Re: X301 128Gb Vista Business Freezes-Requires Hard Reboot

I had similar random freezes with my X301 (128GB with XP preloaded system). I also encountered the freezing access connection problem. I suspect that it has something to do with the initial file indexing, prefetching, and other (both xp and vista save a lot of data). I followed the instructions on ...

I'm running the original Lenovo pre-load. I know allot of people swear by the wipe and re-install procedure, but ...

Yep, only one. One of my biggest gripes with an otherwise fabulous machine. Can be annoying if the laptop is sitting on a pillow or bed since it muffles the sound.

This is a non-scientific poll of course, but it pretty much proves to me that the X300 would probably in more hands had it not been for its exclusive SSD drive that pushes its price beyond the reach of many fans. Well, of course. Except Lenovo is not in the business of putting top-of-the-line noteb...

Toshiba just announced a 5400RPM 1.8" 160Gb drive today. Supposedly available in August. Appears to have a micro-SATA interface which means they should work in the X300 given they are 8mm thin.

If the poll here is any indication, price is indeed a factor keeping potential buyers from taking the plunge. With at least 10 forum member out of 46 responses stating they would buy an X300 if it were $1000 cheaper with a non SSD drive, this is a fair indication that the premium price of the X300 w...
