[quote="spurkza"]I have a T60 with the 950 integrated graphics, a 80GB 5400 rpm disk, a 15 in 1024 x 768 (4:3) screen, and a T7200 2Ghz CPU. At bootup, at 40 C, normally runs between 45 C and 53 C though has been as high as 63 C. Though I may have a faulty system board causing frequent fan on/off (e...

Fast Increase in CPU Temperature - Light Usage
Less than 10 day old Thinkpad T60, at boot up Fan Control software measures CPU temperature at 40 degrees C. 30 minutes later while only checking email and some basic web browsing of news and others sites (no software downloads, watching videos, games, etc), temperature has risen to 60 degrees C. At...

Thanks for the replies. The machine now sits at the Welcome screen for 30 seconds, which I can live with, with total boot time of appx 2min 20sec. As time permits, I'll do some more tweaking. I removed Thinkpad AccessConnections software, among others, which I was not planning on using anyway which ...

Very basic related wireless question, but not answered in the Thinkpad manuals I can find. There is a switch at the top edge of laptop screen with symbols (not the words on or off) to have or not have WIFI, but not very intuitive. Which way, left or right, do I push the switch if I want to turn WIFI...

The software was good for checking that not had a severe heating issue, however, reading elsewhere, changing the cooling outside of using BIOS or the laptop's Power Manager (Control Panel) risks your Thinkpad being toast. Sadly, this is a problem with some T60 and previous Thinkpad models. If you ha...

Slow bootup on new T60 after msconfig cleanup & other st
New T60 with 2GB RAM received last week. During bootup, machine sits for 50 seconds at the Welcome screen step. What else can I do to speed up this step which seems exceedingly slow? Once booted up, machine runs exceedingly fast to expectations. Here is the cleanup I have performed so far. 1. Remove...
