Re: X61s LCD replaced, some lights and lid switch don't work now
Yep, EOMtp is right the culprit is more than likely the LCD cable. While they look quite robust it seems the wiring traces are easily broken and the 'arms' are easily torn. I assume you double checked that the snap in connector from the LCD cable to the inverter was correctly aligned and pushed fir...

X61s LCD replaced, some lights and lid switch don't work now
I recently replaced the Ultralight LCD in my X61s and while the important things work fine, there's a few components that have stopped working: The power, HDD, standby, etc. lights have stopped working except for the WiFi and Bluetooth lights which still work fine On standby mode, opening the lid no...

Do you mind sharing if you found a replacement or where you found it for 189.44? I also need to replace my Ultralight X61s screen soon.

Re: T40 faulty mainboards
Hi I have a T40 which had 3 Years IWS. Recently I send it to service in Germiany ( place of purchase). Today I got the unit back after 28 days and it worked only for 10 minutes - laptop`s screen freezed and image became extremely unsharp. After reboot the LCD stayed black the fans were on. The unit...

In my case, they told me they cannot change the shipping address but can put out a note to UPS to bring the laptop to the correct destination. But this was never done and I had to go through hell to get the person living at my old address to ship the laptop to me. I do not understand what prevents ...

Crucial.com also sells memory for the X60. Type "ThinkPad X60" in the search box on the left side. For some reason the X60 cannot be found if you go through the drop-down menus of the Crucial Memory Advisor Tool. It's there but buried under "More Manufacturers". Click on that and you'll see Lenovo ...

Yes I do have mixed USB 1.1 and 2.0 devices but the problem also occurs when there are only USB 2.0 devices attached. Tapping on the underside of the USB ports seems to restore it to USB 2.0 functionality briefly, I think that rules out any software/OS/driver problems. IBM/Lenovo is going to take an...

How long have you had the battery? How many charge cycles does it have? The most likely cause is the battery, if it's gone bad or worn out it can cause problems charging. Here's a good article as to how and why LiIon batteries wear out: http://www.batteryuniversity.com/parttwo-34.htm Something simil...

Thanks for the insight on looking under the memory door for the board serial number, I presume that IBM copies over the same serial in the BIOS if they swap over boards. I am fine with either a repair to the original board or a refurb swap as long as it's fixed. I don't understand why the USB port j...

T40 HI-SPEED USB problem back after system board replaced
I recently had my T40 system board replaced due to the problem where USB 2.0 Hi speed devices are only recognized as 1.1. With the new system board everything worked fine for about a week then it started happening again. The problem is intermittent, sometimes a device will function at high speed, th...

IBM Wireless LAN MiniPCI Adapter II connection fix
For those of you with the Atheros IBM MiniPCI card, if you have trouble getting a connection to any wireless AP, and you had a previous MiniPCI adapter installed, make sure all your old drivers are removed. I replaced my 2200BG with the IBM Atheros card and it worked fine up until a couple of weeks ...

Thanks to everyone on this thread and the other one for their suggestions. I applied the newest version of the Intel driver 8.1.0.28 ( http://support.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/CS-010623.htm ) and it is working fine with WPA. As everyone else said, don't use the old version if you plan on us...

So far so good and the connection works with WPA. Access Connections 3.3 was starting to get flaky so I uninstalled ...

Yes, I use WPA with PSK/TKIP. I'll try setting the router and card to WEP and no encryption but I don't want to run in any mode other than WPA, These problems only happen when the Thinkpad comes out of hibernate or standby, booting from power off state has no problems. Interestingly enough, disablin...

Intel 2200BG wireless problems from hibernate/standby
Has anyone noticed the following problem with the Intel 2200BG 802.11b/g adapter in their Thinkpad? If the Thinkpad is placed into standby or hibernate mode, the 2200BG adapter becomes unstable when the machine is turned back on. Here are the problems I've noticed: 1. The wireless adapter drops the ...

According to the BIOS version history, support for the 2200BG adapter was added beginning with version 3.00, so as long as your BIOS version is that or later you should be fine. I'm running version 3.08a (dated 8/26/2004) and haven't had any problems. Support for the IBM a/b/g adapter was added in v...

You shouldn't have any problems upgrading to the 2200BG in your T40. I succcessfully changed out the 2100B adapter for the 2200BG in my 2373-72U, you simply need to remove the keyboard and palmrest to access the mini-PCI slot. Make sure you get the card from IBM (Thinkpads won't boot with a non-IBM ...

Intel 2100B and 2200BG cards max out a 1.2Mbps on T40
Has anyone had problems where the maximum throughput of their wireless card is lower than expected? The Intel 2100B card on my T40 has never been able to go faster than 1.2Mbps even though my broadband connection is at 3 Mbps (confirmed via LAN and direct connections). This was tested using broadban...
