Re: SSD and Win7 or Win8?
Thank you very much for your help. I've been using SSD with Win 7 on my first T61 for almost a year and it runs quite nice. Now it's time for my mum's T61. Following your opinions I'll vote for Win 7 once again. Hope I won't regret that.

Hi I'm going to upgrade my second T61 with SSD. The point is which Windows I should choose. Is Win 8 better than Win 7 today? Can Win 8 support Intel X3100 graphic chip?

ugly white spot on LCD cover - how to remove it
Hi, One of our T61 (bought as second hand one) has an ugly "white" stain on LCD cover - almost in the middle of it -maybe from cigarrete ash? Is there any way to resolve that issue - I know that I cant restore the rubberized surface but maybe there is some sort of paint I can use to gently repair th...

Hi, I'm going to buy new genuine AC adaptor for my T61 via our local auction service called allegro. There are some offers of genuine AC adaptors but I'd like to get some info from forum members regarding visual indicators (like part numbers, label layouts, text descriptions etc) I should look for a...

Re: t61 hot keys OSD stopped working - solution found
As I said i used Lenovo Update Software. It listed some updates and there was Hotkeys update option. I accepted that recommendation and now I cant use Hotkey OSD feature :( Hurraaaaa. I've managed to find a solution. I found some old soft from 2010 in the Internet and installed it. Hotkey features a...

To be honest I followed the recommendation of my Lenovo Update Software CRAP  application and made an upgrade for Hotkey features. t61 hot keys OSD stopped working - solution found
Hi, yesterday I made some updates on my T61 in terms of Win XP updates and some Lenovo Software updates. As a result it turned out that Hotkeys OSD stopped to respond - some features still work without OSD graphic indication (like Thnikpad Light), and some has stopped permanently (ie Fn + f3 or soun...

Hi,

Hi,
looking for parts mentioned in topic's subject. Preferably from Poland because shipping cost is an issue - guess parts will be cheaper than shipping. When someone from abroad (still from EU) has good offer please PM or write down in this topic.

Re: i7 vs. t9300 cpu - does anyone really notice a difference?
I definitely agree with billyj. I also own t61 with T9300 and SandyBridge i5 based t420s. When it comes to vbox ubuntu boot up procedure the latter one does it in ca 15sec while t61 need +-45 sec. So we have about 3 times better score - both machines have ssd drives and RAM amount is not a bottlenec...

Re: T61 cpu upgrade
With different environment I meant the current voltage of T9300 CPU. My T43, T61 and even T420s make some whining noise - it is connected with power management schemas for different mainboard element (eg USB ports, WiFi cads); it occurs especially when on battery when the power differs to the AC one...

Re: T61 cpu upgrade
I agree with miro_gt. Whining is connected with some ciricuits on the motherboard (especiallt coils). The new CPU tends to work in different environment than your T7300. The voltage can be different when battery is on. Of course replacing your current T9300 with the other one can make a difference a...
