Just ordered 1GB for my T42.....In my experience, the ram will be bad when you get it. I will run memtest for a couple of days just to be sure.

Any thoughts on where it comes from? Maybe systems that have other problems and were scrapped?

I have to say that most of the reason that I purchased a thinkpad was its compatiblity with windows. I currenlty run breezy on my x31. I have full support for everything, suspend to RAM, suspend to disk, etc., thinkpad buttons, wifi (including wpa), well, like I said everything. While I recommend Op...

My previous computer was an X24. I had a USB 1.1 cd-rom which I used to install winxp without problems. Does an error message? What is the message exactly? When I re-read your post, it seems as though the install takes place and then when you reboot to complete the setup, it won't reboot. Is this co...

//begin rant I use stuff until literally, it falls apart. This is part of the reason why I own a thinkpad. It should, if taken care of correctly, last for a long time. I have never thrown away a computer come to think of it. I have an old Sinclair in my basement (still in the box complete with recip...

I have a skivvy in Oatmeal. I love my Crumpler, it fits like a glove and provides good protection from all angles. I have an X31 so it is pretty small, most people don't think thta I have a laptop hiding in my bag. There is enough room to hold my thinkpad, additional battery, and ac adapter; it is p...

I love OO as it is it is typically called. Great Program. I have not used office for quite a while. OO runs great in both linux and windows. If you keep the quick start icon running, OO launches on very, very quickly. There are also other ways to tweak the program to open faster. Keep in mind that M...

I bought a Crumpler bag for my X31. The model is called "skivvy" and it fits the puter like a dream. There is enough room to haul around my power adapter and the laptop. Just amazing. Cost like 40 off of ebay (I bought last years model) Highly recommended.

I have the same system as yours (x31, 1.4 GHZ) with 1.5 GB of RAM. If you can go two GB do it, but make sure that you get as much as you can. It makes all the difference in the world. I do a lot of video editing, photoshopping, etc, and it really helps. I also have a 5400 rpm HD, which helps a lot a...
