Re: T43 Keyboard and Touch Pad not working
That sounds like a textbook example of the failing SouthBridge chip - which is the big square one right under the wireless card - and you can test it by pressing (gently) on it when the machine is frozen, to see whether the keyboard comes back. You'll likely need a new motherboard, I'm sorry to say...

T43 Keyboard and Touch Pad not working
Hi, I have issue with my T43 keyboard and touchpad not working after working on the computer for a while. I suspect this is a motherboard issue. Is this relating overheating to the ATI GPU or the chip which is located directly north of the GPU and right of the CPU (when the screen is facing you)? Sp...

T43 type 2668 Charge Very Very slowly
Hi I have T43 type 2668. I recently got two generic replacement batteries. Both from different firms and looks ok. The charger says takes 48 hours to charge up. Waited 48 hrs, never charge beyond above 75%? The original battery was shot. Any idea? I physically took it apart and didn't see any burnt ...

Current CF card for X41 for Win XP OS
Hi,
Has anyone recently (say last two months) successfully put a (> 16gb) CF card in X41 installing Win XP? Please let me know the brand the model.
My last 16gb Kingston (233X) install was an abysmal failure.
Thanks.

What do you mean with: " redirected to another monitor "? Is that hooking up a 2nd monitor to the VGA port, or is that something else? T43 Pink Hue to External LCD monitor
Hi I have a T43 (15"). For couple of months now it has a very faint pink hue throughout the LCD. After LCD powers up or when increasing the brightness for 3-4 sec, the faint pink hue disappears. I thought this is a problem with a dying LCD bulb or a weak inverter and was in the process of ordering p...

Win XP vs Win 7 Battery Time
I have installed both Win 7 and Win XP on the following machines:
T43
X61
X60s
My observation is that I lose about 20-25% of battery time (on average) when I use Win 7 when compared to Win XP. Does this sound correct?
I thought Win 7 would have better battery time or is it the other way around?

Re: Trouble Installing Kingston Ultimate CF as HDD in X41t
Sorry, I missed the fact that you have no Windows at all; I guess I thought you were trying to add additional Windows features. Anyway, my suggestion won't work for you. You'll have to use a floppy or maybe a usb flash drive. Somebody who understands this better than I do may have a better idea but...

Re: Trouble Installing Kingston Ultimate CF as HDD in X41t
By all means, update the bios to 2.06. Go to Lenovo support and download "BIOS Update (Non-Diskette) - ThinkPad X41 Tablet". It's completely automatic; you don't need a floppy disk. I'm assuming that this bios update is available for your version of the X41t. Mine is a 1866 and the automatic bios u...

Re: Trouble Installing Kingston Ultimate CF as HDD in X41t
I'm in the process of doing the same thing that you are doing: used X41 tablet ($45 on ebay), generic cf card to ide adapter ($6 on Amazon),... but my cf card is a Transcend 32GB 400x ($70 at Newegg). Use a free program called EASEUS Partition Manager- Home Edition to format your cf card to ntfs. G...

Re: Trouble Installing Kingston Ultimate CF as HDD in X41t
Use a FDISK utility such as SuperFDISK first, then format it as NTFS. Just to verify, so I would format the CF card to NTFS using SuperFDISK? I have a stupid question (never used SuperFDISK)....why SuperFDISK? Would a normal format on a card reader delete the "fixed" to "removable" in the CF? BTW, ...

Trouble Installing Kingston Ultimate CF as HDD in X41t
I recently bought an x41t (without HDD but with valid XP Tablet COA) hoping to install Kingston Ultimate 266x CF http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134796 as HDD. Having read the sticky above that this CF would be recognized as fixed, I decided to purchase it. I also bought a C...

T43 Pink tint LCD
I have T43 (2668) and usually I close the LCD lid and put it in sleep mode after daily usage. I notice there is a pinkish tint around the LCD (especially around the outer edge) in the last couple days when I open the lid and turn on the computer. And a few secs or so, the pinkish tint completely dis...

Re: Problems with non-thinkpad option drives on T43 thinkpads
I have a Thinkpad T43 (2668-94U) and wanted to get rid of the notorious hard drive 2010 error. I downloaded the ISO file T43p-1YET65WW SLIC 2.1 no 1802 no 2010.iso ( made by TTAV134) and per instruction burned the image into a CD. Then, I followed the direction and booted from the CD. One initially ...

Re: X60s getting long in the tooth - what replacement laptop?
The X220/X220i or the X200 are your perfect choices, the former is more powerful and cost a little more with the IPS, if you are short on cash then get the X200. I would avoid the X201 with the first generation i Core CPU. How about the i5-540M CPU in X201? Any problem with them? Or is this gear to...

Re: T43 no more error 2010 (picture warning)
Got a T43 (2668 here), I have a few questions
regarding this BIOS mod:
What software do I need to flash the new bios?
How do I back up the old bios in case the new bios does not work?
Would SLIC2.1 affect activation of WinXP Pro in case of
re-installation is required?
Thanks.
