My set of Corsair Vengeance 2x8GB sticks is flawless, so YMMV.

Re: x230: Input lag on keyboard? Just asking
I went ahead and ordered the x230 -- no lag whatsoever. Don't know what my T410's problem was, but this x230 is a dream. The new keyboard is -- gasp -- actually quite good! Easy to type and great feedback, and this is coming from somebody who still has an IBM Model M on his desk at home.

x230: Input lag on keyboard? Just asking
I'm in the market for a new Thinkpad. I loved my X31 and foolishly decided to go for the bigger T410 when I needed an upgrade, and I've been miserable with the T410's keyboard. More specifically, the input lag is horrendous, even after updated drivers and whatnot. On my home PC there's no lag: I pre...

Re: T410 - CPU-Z reports 533MHz RAM?
EDIT: Yeah, 533 MHz = PC8300 RAM, which is what the machine was supposed to come with.
EDIT: Yeah, no, 533 MHz isn't PC8300: that's PC4200. Question above still stands.

T410 - CPU-Z reports 533MHz RAM?
Just received my replacement T410 and all is well so far. HOWEVER, CPU-Z is reporting that the machine has 4GB of "Elpida" DDR3 RAM @ 533 MHz. The FSB on the machine is 1066 MHz. Did Lenovo cheap out here with cheap RAM, or is CPU-Z reporting an incorrect value? Any other way I can tell?

Re: T410 vs T410s HELP!
If portability is a concern, I'd go with an X-series laptop. I used an X31 through my undergrad and both grad degrees & walked a few km with it each day. I've since moved on to a T410, but that's only because my computer typically sits on my desk all week until the weekend. For word processing, inte...

Re: Brand new T410 & Fan Error
Lenovo agreed to replace it. I'm incredibly confused, however: it absolutely would not boot up yesterday, but today it seems to be working fine. Regardless, I really don't want to risk having & using this computer if the fan's not 100% working, for whatever reason. EDIT: I've been thinking about thi...

Brand new T410 & Fan Error
I just received my T410 yesterday: i7, discrete graphics, 4GB RAM, etc. I used it twice yesterday with no problems. Today I start it up, and just after BIOS post it beeps and says "Fan Error" before shutting off. Tried calling Lenovo but their tech support folks told me to call sales, and sales was ...

Re: T410 switchable graphics?
Received my T410 today: i7, discrete Nvidia card, etc. Power Manager DOES allow me to switch between "high performance" and "energy saver" graphics modes -- discrete and integrated, in other words. I'm in Canada, so that might have something to do with it. Great system so far!

Re: T410 Rescue and Recovery Media (win pro 64)
What's the deal with this? Lenovo doesn't ship rescue & recovery media with new Thinkpads? I know that there's a hidden partition on the hard drive that allows for recovery, but what happens if I wanted to upgrade the hard drive?

Re: Great deals for Canadians! Just ordered my T410!
I purchased the exact same configuration -- the price was too good. I'd like to add an additional few years of warranty to the T410, but I've heard horror stories about EasyServ - have they gotten better over the past few years?

This can't be a coincidence... X31 2672-PBU, just hit this error today when I was doing a full reinstall. Memory's not the issue - I've had the error on install on three different memory sticks, each running solo in the computer (2 x 256, 1 x 1GB). I have nothing else to say except that, after all t...

Did you do a clean install on the 7200 drive, or did you use the factory restore disks?tomh009 wrote:Very strange indeed ... my X31 (with a 7200 rpm 7K100) will not turn the fan on until around 60C, which means hardly ever. [X31] Absolutely baffled: fan speed on a fresh install
I've got two hard drives for my X31: one is the stock 40GB 4200RPM that came with the Thinkpad, the other is a Seagate 80GB 7200RPM that I picked up last year. I have a factory default installation on the 40GB, and I just finished a fresh install on the 80GB. Now, this is what I don't understand: on...

Fresh network install (with floppy) for X31
Forgive me if this has been asked before, but after searching for a good 20 minutes or so, I can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I'd like to do a fresh install of XP on my X31. I have a USB floppy drive which should allow me to do a network installation, but the problem is I have no idea how to...

IBM X31 nightmare - the saga continues
Well, the nightmare's mostly over, anyway; the motherboard that I've been waiting for for 5.5 weeks is finally here & installed. Unfortunately, the tech forgot to put in my model & serial #s when he flashed the BIOS. I've tried flashing it myself, but it won't let me enter the machine type & doesn't...

It's fun to read these posts about all these problems with the newer computers then contrast with the 7 year old ThinkPad and look at how well it runs, even if the only reason I use it is because of money. "Fun" isn't the word I'd use to describe it. But I agree - I used a Thinkpad 250C for about n...
