WTB: T61 SXGA 1400 x 1050 14.1inch with Intel Graphics.
Hi, I just missed out on a nice auction on eBay for such an animal, and I just don't know how often these appear. I am going to be kicking myself, because I was going to wait to bid on it, and then forgot to, and remembered 10 minutes after the close.
There is a nice IBM sale going on right now, with 20% off, but I am not a family or employee, to get the lowest prices. When I called, they were out of them specifically, but thought more would be in the next days.
So if you have such a machine let me know.....thanks

The SXGA+ and Intel graphics is an unusual combination, but there was just a bunch of them coming in from a major corporation. I had opportunity to go through them all before they went up for auction to brokers and grabbed all the ones with perfect screen. The ones I passed up were sold to brokers and some I'm certain eventually found their way onto ebay. My guess is one that you refer to had some screen blemishes and perhaps other issues, some of the common ones are broken hinges, cracked plastics, etc, but even so at that price you can't really complain. When you buy on ebay you pretty much have to expect to get the "low grade" systems, in comparison many buyers come here because they want the best available. In regards to these models, they come with two different motherboards, the 42w7648 and 42w7872. The latter is very rare and will sell much higher, however the only difference is that it supports newer and more powerful cpu chips. To get one of these machines in reasonably good condition with a screen that doesn't have pressure marks, bad pixels, or badly scratched would be about $200 to $300+. These are ballpark prices and assume it's a unit that was well tested compared to most cheap ebay sales that are "boot to bios" tested only. Basically you get what you pay for. If you're looking for something less expensive, I have a couple equally unusual combinations of Intel graphics and 14.1 wxga+ (1440x900) systems in excellent condition starting at only $125 plus shipping for bare laptop. On this model the intel graphic is usually only seen with the 1280x800 screen so most people buy one then upgrade the screen, but that would be much more costly.
My advice is if you don't mind things like scratches/cracks and/or screen imperfections, and you're willing to risk getting a system that has a board with thermal problems, freezing, BSOD crashes, then you might be better off taking a chance on a cheap ebay special, but for a good sound machine cheerypicked from corporate liquidation I pay much more than the price you quoted, not even counting the work that goes into them as many end up getting some parts replaced etc. Btw, I'd say there is about an 80% chance that the unit you saw on ebay was in my hands several weeks ago as I went through over 100 of them. Of course I could be wrong, but Intel systems with sxga+ just aren't seen very often so I suspect they came from the same corporation mine came from.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

thanks for the replies, I just started looking, I suspect what I found on ebay, was a rare item, that I just happened by, and missed out on, it was a private party item, not a reseller. I will keep your stock in mind, I am certainly only looking for a 4:3, and low heat. I am under the impression that the T61 is better ventalated than the T60's
