Thinkpad E vs L vs T

#1 Post by Whitieiii » Fri Mar 02, 2018 5:35 am

I know this has been said multiple times but when going with a newer Thinkpad (440 and newer) what makes the E, L, and T series different? what would make someone go for one or the other if price isn't a deciding factor? I know our school just got a whole new shipment of L550's (about 60 of them) for the 2 new mobile laptop carts before I graduated but and i'm thinking why would they use that model in that application?

The E series is like the old i-Series: meant for consumers, had really bad LCDs, but you could get a mid-range one if you spec'd it out right, but was modeled a but differently to look better for consumers.
The L series is like the old R-series: Looks like a T-series, Shaped like a T-series,usually inferior display and build materials, same processors and specs beside display but you can get decent displays for the L-series.
The T series is like the old T-series: It is a T-series. A brick of a machine built from metal and high strength plastic. Configure it however you please.
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.
