right now i have a t43p 2668, its great. however i may have the option of selling it and getting a new thinkpad.
t43 stats
2ghz pent m
1.5gb ram (i added a 1gb stick)
80gb hd
64mb x300
b/g wireless
blue tooth
dvd read, cd write
14.1" screen
kind of a longwinded post so ill put cliff notes first then you can read on if you want.
1. have t43p, could sell and buy new thiinkpad
2. wouldnt loose money on the selling and could end up getting very nice T60 for same price
3. when i bought t43p decided not to get x41 tablet
4. i wonder if i should get the tablet after all
5. i would still be able to do everything that i normally do on the t43 on the less powerful x41 tablet
6. which one should i get?
last time when i researched which thinkpad i should buy it came down to a tossup between a t4x and the tablet (which had just come out). i was getting a thinkpad so i could use it for my engineering classes. i decided to get the t43 and at first it was a great choice.
when i went back to school i never used my laptop in class, and i saw a couple of people with tablets that used them to take notes and stuff. i never used my thinkpad for note taking or anything, it was just too much of a hassle to type instead of just writing things down. all i would ever use my thinkpad for was just sitting in my room, extra computer to use, and sometimes i would bring it to my friends place to game.
now i could get an even better T series thinkpad or to get a tablet like i originally planned. i hardly ever use the full power of the thinkpad (in regards to the processor, ram and video card are concerned).
if i got the x41 tablet it would be able to fulfill the same qualities that i mainly use my t43p (except for lugging it around and gaming).
i plan to get a new desktop that will be a micro case (because i dont need the extra space and that way i can easily take it to a friends house if i want to).

Sounds like you answered your own question. Get the tablet if you need a tablet. Keep your T43 if you need a T-series. Just don't buy a better version of the wrong tool thinking it will suddenly become the right tool.
