According to Greenpeace's quarterly report on how green electronics firms' production processes are and what they do to recycle hardware they sell, Lenovo came out on top.

Here's an old thread on the same topic that was recently revived. It started off as Lenovo being the worst, but now it's updated:

That shows how arbitrary these ratings are.dsigma6 wrote:Here's an old thread on the same topic that was recently revived. It started off as Lenovo being the worst

These things sure are arbitrary, but the fact that Lenovo went from bottom to top in this specific ranking has nothing to do with a subjective view.
The two rankings (last and first) were obtained through the same criteria, and the study was conducted by the same people. There is an arbitrarity about the criteria, but not about the results.
This said, the sad thing is that this study is based on what enterprises communicate. For instance, a major reason why Lenovo ranked last before is because it had just been separated from IBM, whose policy is "I do what I think necessary for the environment, the developing countries,... but it is something personal that I don't wanna use as a marketing weapon, like other companies do". And having seen this from inside IBM, I can tell you that even if there is no communication about it toward the "external world", a lot of things are done.
