Re: Ultranav SK-8845 Windows 10 driver
You do know that the SK-8845 is very old and not supported by Lenovo?
Having said that, the SK-8845 can use the synaptics subset in any UltraNav driver released by Lenovo. Try forcing the device to use this driver:
http://support.lenovo.com/ca/en/downloads/ds103454
It is possible to get it working under Windows 8 /8.1 with this driver (if you wish to forgo Windows 10):

Re: Ultranav SK-8845 Windows 10 driver
I got a driver working but the "UltraNav"-tab with the trackpoint specific settings is still missing.ikules wrote:Hi,

My problem is that my movements with the trackpoint feels too slow for me. I am used to set it to VERY sensitive. This isn't possible without the UltraNav settings.
Or is there a workaround? Maybe someone knows a software which can boost the normal mouse speed which also would help very much.
I searched the whole internet but couldn't find any solution.
Help would be much appreciated.
Edit:
The strange thing is that the trackpoint of my USB Keyboard works perfect if attached to my Thinkpad W500 with Windows 10 installed on it.
I can see my Synaptics Driver v16.2.19.7 and i can see a TouchStyk V1.13 USB device which i then can configure to the speed i want.
But how can i install this same driver on my normal PC? Very confusing ...
Edit2:
FOUND A SOLUTION!!!
Check this site - you can edit the mouse sensitivy curve in the registry:
http://translate.google.pl/translate?sl ... 2Fmouse%2F
Simply download a reg-fiile and execute it! Then restart computer! "Inclination 90.reg" worked fine for me!!
Edit3:
Even better solution for me is using "Multiple_2.reg" and reducing the speed in the normal mouse control panel to 80%!!!
(May help others with the same problem)
Edit4:
Still not god enough - had to fix my values manually. Here this works for me quite good:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse]
"SmoothMouseXCurve"=hex:\
00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,\

Is this still working as I might reluctantly have to use 2021 releases of Windows 10 in coming months in parallel with my Win 8.1emonect wrote: ↑Tue Feb 28, 2017 5:20 pmI got a driver working but the "UltraNav"-tab with the trackpoint specific settings is still missing.ikules wrote:Hi,

Re: Ultranav SK-8845 Windows 10 driver
Somehow I got it working in Windows 10 22H2 x64.
Since I installed a combination of drivers, I don't recall the exact steps, but here is my best guess at what is required:
- Installed v2kyb03us17.exe (Think/Travel USB Keyboard with UltraNav TrackPoint/TouchPad driver for Microsoft(R) Windows(R) Vista (32 and 64 bit), Version 9.1.2.0). I appended "Win7" to the filename, so this is probably what I had been using in Win7 x64. This should properly let Windows ID devices from generic to Synaptics.
- Installed the latest/final drivers that came bundled with SK-8845, from http://www.ibmfiles.com/pages/sk88xx.htm . Extract the contents from the zip file, then dive into \Drivers\Vista\x64 and run setup.exe. This installed the Windows Mouse property panel.
- I also installed v5kyb04us17.exe (Vista drivers, Version 2.0.1.3) as step one or two, but I don't think this is necessary. Neither of them added the Mouse property panel.
Sorry, I don't know where to find the v...exe drivers, but I may have found them years ago by looking for T4x drivers. See edit2 below.
You can try the latest drivers first (the ones from ibmfiles.com). It didn't work for me early on, but maybe I did something wrong. For sure, I did not manually browse to the \Drivers\Vista\x64 directory the first time I tried, so maybe this was the magic step. When installed, it should prompt you to reboot, so it adds the Synaptics panel to Mouse settings. This I didn't do the first time, so maybe that was the problem. In any case, one or a combination of these three will get it working properly, with no hacks required.
The caveat, so far, is that the scroll isn't working with Firefox-based browsers. Works in Opera and Edge Chromium. Maybe I just need to change a setting in FF. I haven't tested it too much, since I wanted to write all this down before I forget anything (and I hate people who ask for help, but don't offer any info when they find some kind of solution)! But it's cool to have it working! I went a week without being able to scroll
! When you press the middle button, the pointer changes to the scroll icon
. Oh yeah, I'm using this with a custom assembled desktop (MSI mainboard, etc), so I don't know if the Fn keys will work when connected to a ThinkPad. The volume/mute buttons work, though. Fn+NumLk (on the keypad) opens the calculator, like it is supposed to.
I just ordered one of the current TrackPoint keyboards, without numpad, and am glad I won't need to use it.
Good luck!
edit// With Firefox, about:config, then change the TrackPoint setting from -1 to 1.
edit2// Found the drivers: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downlo ... dows-vista
edit3// It seems that you need to disable UAC in order for the third-button scrolling (and perhaps other features) to work reliably. Somehow I accidently enabled UAC and it would stop scrolling in many programs (such as MS Office 2016). To easily enable/disable UAC, I used Winaero Tweaker @ https://winaero.com/winaero-tweaker/ . I'll leave it up to the individual to decide what is more important: scrolling or UAC
.
