The HDD in a friend's T42 needs to be replaced. It has come out about 1/4" and will not budge further.
I'm afraid to use too much force and damage something else. Any suggestions?
From the pattern of bad sectors it appears that unit was dropped.
I have exchanged HDD in other Tx without problems.

Re: HDD removal T42
The display lid has to be open. Put the T42 on it's left side with the display lid open. Make sure that the locking screw (if present) has been removed. The locking screw prevents the hard drive cover from being pulled out.
If you still have trouble, then perhaps one of the screws holding the cover or hard drive caddy has partially come out, catching on the side of the slot. You can remove the palmrest if necessary.

Re: HDD removal T42
Thank you, DKB.
That is exactly what happened, one of the screws holding the caddy was loose.
HHD safely removed
