Isn't the area calculated based on the actual screen area ? For example if we take a screen with 41sm width (without the bezels, just the screen) and height of 30.8cm we get 1262 cm² or around 0,13 m². That would be our screen area no matter the resolution. Without the use of DPI upscaling, FHD on a traditional 14'inch laptop with 30.8cm x 17.4 cm (0.05m²), letters tend to be a little bit hard to read. Those resolutions make sense on 27' monitors and above while on the smaller screens you get the same amount usable interface because DPI scaling needs to be used.
