RAM expansion: and now?

Hallo,
I am trying to expand the RAM of my Thinkpad T22.
I have a SDRAM SODIMM pc100 256 Mb, Ttat I put in addiction of the original RAm of 128 Mb.
Well, when I start the notebook, the system go in BIOS modality. And ask me to insert a serie of options.
It is normal?
What need that I do for the effective start of my notebook?

What is your BIOS asking for? Do you get any error messages, codes, beeps?

The notebook start with this monitor:

ERROR
0232: Extended RAM Failed in offset: 1A

Press <F1> ti Setup

(I Have buyed this SRAM Sodimm, but now I Have understand that My IBM Thinkpad needs a specific SDRAM IBM compatible. It is right?)

If I press F1 I go to BIOS Setup Utility, with a long serie of questions..

I guess, the memory stick is not compatible. Maybe high density? Try the chip in the other memory slot.

Yes, the 256mb chip HAS to be PC100 LOW DENSITY. There are a lot of 256mb PC100 sticks out there that aren't Low Density.

You can tell by sight, if the ram stick has 16 chips on it, 8 on each side.

Hallo tfflivemb2,
the look of my RAM 256 Mb is exactly the same of other RAM 128 Mb..
four chips on each side..

I think that is NOT a PC 100 LOW DENSITY..

Somebody needs this kind of RAM?..

If it has four on each side just like your 128mb stick, then no it will not work.

You might be able to sell your stick on eBay ($40-50). I am getting ready to list a stick like yours on eBay, so that I can buy another LOW DENSITY stick.

The high density sticks might work in a Dell system. I had a friend try it for me in either a Inspiron or Latitude, I don't remember which.

Yes I will try to sell this RAM stick on Ebay.
Now I know that I need a low density stick.
I have a IBM Thinkpad manual, and there I read that my T22 needs "sodimm sdram 100 mhz" and no more new, and so...
