T23 (and potential Txx) damage to LCD.

My T23 SXGA LCD has an area of distortion about the size of a U.S quarter at the 12 o'clock position. I think that it is a pressure spot from picking up the closed T23 with my thumb on the lid (back of LCD). I can reproduce the distortion, temporarily, by pressing on the lid with the display turned on.

Is this a common thing?
