Hi there,
I wondering whether any of you have experienced similar problems before - I have a T30 (2367-QU2) and it is working just fine with Windows XP. Recently, it developed a weird problem - Cannot turn on from full power off or hibernation states. If I fully shutdown the machine or put it to hibernation, then I cannot turn it on - upon pressing the power button, the indicators briefly went on and then off, with the exception of the power indicator. The screen is blank, the IBM logo screen is never shown. I then had to try to remove AC, remove battery, press power button, and one out of numerous tries might possibly revive the machine. Then it will start normally as if nothing had happened.
There is no problem if I put the machine to sleep. It can be turned on normally.
Have you ever experienced problems like this? Any suggestions before it goes to the trash can?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Weird problem on my T30, likely BIOS related
G'Day Cn*...
not really sure what I did to fix my 'similiar' issue ,,,,but i rmemeber this issue related to "hybernate file' being corrupted on HD
When windows (especiallyxp) goes into hybernate- it 'copys the current state' - with desktop and all to the HARDDRIVE. And if for what reason that is NOT FULLY READABLE or ACCESS'able when you REPOWER - it will cause issues. WINDOWS than writes an ERROR LOG (this is genrally reated first time u repowered - so look at windows log files) and you can delete that - it might fix the problem.
**from memory - MS told me to delete the HYBERNATE FILE" that was on HD and it fixed this issue> (mostly caused by SP#in XP Pro)....sorry I cannot remembee the rest of detials as it was looong timeago ...
Also I would use the SYSTEM TOOLS to > scan the HD for errors ( fix them auto) and do DISK DEFRAG using windows XP ..... that might help you to see if HD needs repalcing
Sorry to be vague...but i hope its of some help

Re: Weird problem on my T30, likely BIOS related
Thanks much for your reply, ausmike.
It seems the problem my T30 had is not related to the hibernation file issue. When it cannot power on, it did not even pass the IBM logo screen. That is why I suspect the problem is somehow related to BIOS. It just seems that BIOS does not want to kick in.
As for now, I will make sure I do not shutdown or hibernation the computer (actually hibernation is disabled). I will just put the computer to sleep if I am not using it. At least it works for now...

Pull the power, remove the battery and unplug the CMOS battery. That will default the system back to the original BIOS settings. If its BIOS you now have a level playing field.
