T22 Standby Problem

#1 Post by chzuck » Mon Sep 24, 2012 11:58 am

I have started having a problem when awakening my T22 from STANDBY. It dumps physical memory. I have attached a photo of the screen when this happens. Any ideas of what I can do.

Run Memtest86+ to check for physical memory errors. If that's not the problem, it could be several other things from the graphics driver to HDD or system board faults.

OK, I ran Memtest86+ and all checked out OK. I had installed several hotfixes and updates, maybe one of those did not agree. Everything appears to work fine. Guess I just won't use standby or hibernate. After a dump or 2, the computer wants to run scan disk.

Also try disabling your anti-virus software to see if that is the cause.

Here's some more things to look at...how much RAM is installed in this T22? And, what size HDD, with how much free space?

I've also seen wireless adapters do weird things going in/out of suspend...try it with and without the adapter turned on/installed and see what happens.

No virus program installed yet.

Ram 256
HDD 20gb free space 12.7gb

I will try disabling the wireless adapter.

I have done a lot more work on this problem and have narrowed it down to a software issue. I installed W2k PRO w/SP4 and then SP5.1 and all is OK. The problem appears after I install Windows2000-UpdateRollup2. Apparently there is a problem with that update or there is something my laptop can't deal with.
