No matter how, I cannot start Doom2 as is on T23 in 2000 or booted to DOS using a USB stick. Is this a reason for this problem with S3 graphic compatiblity issue?
And to be honest this is ugly DOS font that T23 booted into DOS environment.
Suggestions and comments is welcomed.
Even Thinkpad 600 can play doom2 crisply on neomagic 2.5MB, PII 266 but no way of getting sound working yet as I have to work on it more. A21m ok, A31p nice, and anything newer works. But T23 is a problem.

Re: Doom2 issues on T23
Is the behavior the same in DOS and W2K?
Is there an error message? A crash?
Did you try configuring it to "No sound" in the setup program?

Re: Doom2 issues on T23
dr_st, yes both.
Exchanged hard drive for spare 80GB 5400rpm with 16MB buffer toshiba GAX series, installed XP Pro and updated all and drivers in place. Doom.exe linked to desktop and edited this pif icon compatibility settings with no fast bios emulation and gave 8MB and 16MB to every thing I could in the memory also full screen checked. Yes, the DOOM2 sounds are off. Worked at last in T23 with XP. But kinda of funny with video performance. I had a 486DX-50 with VLB and hercules VLB tneseg 4000w32p and doom2 is silky. Thinkpad 600 with neomagic and A31p approached this smoothness and quickness quality.
I need to get another motherboard for 600 to turn it into pentium mmx, currently motherboard will not take any pentium mmx modules, and get 600X someday with 500MHz. Working on getting T60p motherboard also to replace a replacement that seller claimed good but ethernet port is dead.
Using this T60p in x1600 mode with modified driver once I get the motherboard.
