laptop won't turn on anymore
I have a IBM thinkpad T22. It will not turn on. All that happens is hard drive light and battery light flashes once whenever I push the power button. The battery is brand new and fully charged. It was working just a few days ago and then just one day some wierd message popped up right before bios, I don't know what it said because it was too fast. But I went into bios and after a few seconds it started beeping and so I shut it down. I haven't been able to turn it on since.Any suggestions?

My T22 just did this tonight (about 10 minutes ago).
One minute it is on and working fine...... five minutes later it is off and wont' respond.
I tried the power button... with the battery in, the light blinks on for a split second and then goes out, but nothing else happens.
With the battery out, the laptop doesn't respond at all. Sucks. I bought this laptop used 1 year ago.
I guess I have to make a hard choice about whether to order a new board or to save up for a new laptop.

T23 ram may or may not work in a T22, so doing that won't really tell you anything.
Have you tried disconnecting the button battery that keeps the date etc current in the bios?
Question to group: is there a way to clear the CMOS on a T22 or T23? On my desktop PC motherboard, there's a jumper you can short out to clear the CMOS, I've had to do this on a couple of occasions when the thing wasn't booting right.

Well, with all the reading I have done all over and having the same problem you guys are having. Mine just die today same system as yours. I have a T23 and is all pointing to the mainboard. Will talk to friend of mine who works/repair with Thinkpads. Going to ask about the system problem we are having and see if he will agree with me........

Same here.
After I pick up a replacement T23 mobo, I will most likely list the old board here for someone to pick up cheap and play around with. I have heard that certain capacitors can be replaced and get these boards working again, but I am not about to try such a feat. I am nore the "replace the broken part" kind of guy versus the "let's mod it and make it work" kind of guy.

Unless you are Donald Trump and dont mind paying IBM exhorbitant amounts of money for parts and shipping, eBay is the best place for replacement parts... I've bought several T23 bases off eBay for cheap and just swapped out the LCD, keyboard, HD and memory. Makes it a whole lot easier.
