Booting from a DVD, T30
This T30 has a CD-RW/DVD Drive fru 08K9868 and I can boot fine from a CDRom disk but not so by using a DVD disk.
Is this normal for my drive?

No, you should be able to boot from a DVD disc.

I agree with you on the CMOS battery. Disagree with you on this one. I have found some maybe 1 in 10, that will not boot correctly into the bios.
They work fine once the drivers load, but until then, they are useless. There seems to be no rhyme nor reason as to the ones that do or dont. Major brand, name brands dont seem to have the issue. LG labeled as LG no issues. LG labeled as Gateway or Toshiba or a computer name brand, maybe...maybe not.
YMMV

Should and reality differ for me, friend.
I've got a T30 (2366-6U5) -- drive is GCC-4240N (cd-rw, dvd-rom).
BIOS is updated. USB DVD-RW (another USB external drive) does not show up in the boot list (F12)..
Unit boots from CD media a-okay. Not from DVD media..
I know this T30 is ancient.. but what the heck?! No booting from DVD media?
Advice about how to get it to boot from DVD media would be super-appreciated!
