T30 motherboard problem

#1 Post by madrigal » Fri Jul 16, 2010 7:19 am

Hi, guys!
Recently I bought IBM T30 with a dead mobo (mainly as a LCD donor). Nevermind, I tried to start it but the lights flashed for a moment and only the rightmost remain to lit. The fan wasn't work. It could be said that the laptop is completely dead. I continued to dismantle it and when I pulled up the mobo I saw an inductor which was completely unsoldered and laid down. Another thing I noticed was that there were no thermal grease between heatsink and CPU at all. I checked the inductor with ohmmetter and it seems OK. I soldered it on it's place but there is no change - laptop is still dead. As long as I have another T30 mobo (with unsoldered video) I'd like to combine them and to revive the second. The question is in what circuit is the inductor in question and what ICs I should to replace. I'm giving links to two pictures - the inductor is pointed by the red (ugly) arrow.
