No battery icon in taskbar

I have a T23 up and running but for some reason the usual battery icon isn't in the taskbar. All I have is the icon of a plug. When on battery power it does change to a small battery but not the same icon I have on my other thinkpads (T23 and T30).Do I need to download something or just change system settings? Thanks in advance for anyone who can help.
