Repair 15,4 inch lcd for T61 in 2022

Hi, i am gonna receive 2 T61 with broken lcd, both are 15,4 inch, with one spare complete lcd block to be tested with. In case i wanted to repair them, how many chances i have to find the panel at a reasonable price? Searching the net bring me only to overpriced panels or low resolution parts (WXGA)....

I just replaced a 15.4" WXGA with a $69 15.4" WSXGA w/ CCFL I got from Bliss Computers on Ebay. It was a big improvement and Bliss responded to my questions promptly and effectively when I called them.

Thank you, 69$ are the whole value of the T61, it is hard to resell it and make some money out of it, maybe I will keep one for me to hackintosh it.

Almost every repair I make right now is not econoical if I wanted to resell it. Most T4x and T6x seem to be available at much less than the sum of their parts on ebay right now.

Great if your hobby is repairing and 'making good' like me, but bad if you want to profit from it....

In the meantime, t61s arrived and I was able to pick up good parts from both and make a whole T61 working fine. Both were password protected, so I followed the guide for resetting the bios and now I need a few parts and a new lcd to build the second one. Very nice machine, want to hackintosh it but don't have a mac to start with.

I've done a bunch of T4x and T6x machines recently... they're very easy machines to work on, apart from those pesky black plastic covers that go on the sides of the lid, covering the screws...

To get those covers on, I have been using Elmer's Rubber Cement for years.

I bought some after your advice and it does work OK, but administering it can be a bit painful - it's like trying to apply snot with a paintbrush...

Also my recent experience with these machines is the side covers aren't the regular circles that come off intact, but weird rectangular things that destroy themselves when being removed....

I managed to remove the cracked panel from the lcd assembly, man, those plastics were stuck like hell, I will sell this without reassembling it, while the second assembly will be sold as is, with the panel cracked

Just for... i managed to fix the two T61 and they are working fine. Will sell one and keep the best specs for me.
