T61 switches off after 2 seconds, cant find reset hole

#1 Post by thinkpadforum777 » Sun Apr 27, 2025 7:52 pm

Hi, I have a T61 which hasnt been used over winter but suddenly when trying after 6 months is trying to boot then switching off after 2 seconds. Ive tried disconnectong from power and battery and holding down power button for 30 seconds, Tried removing and switching ram around, Tried resetting by finging the reset hole but cant find it anywhere. In case anyone knows where the reset hole is on a T61 or has any ideas of obvious things to try to see if it reboots again. Ive thought about whether the on off botton is locked and switching it off after 2 seconds automatically as it tries to start when i plug power in before i press the on off button. Any ideas from anyone welcome.

Thankyou

ADMIN EDIT: perhaps if you had entered your location as asked when you registered i would care

There is no reset hole.
Is your charger working (preferably 90W) and is the wall outlet switched ON?
Take the battery, HDD/SSD and wifi-card out, then try again.
Add HDD/SSD, try again.
Add wifi-card, try again.
Add battery, try again.
Any luck?
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
But I actually prefer Murphy's from Cork!
