Today's mystery: a T60 that refuses to power on with a certain charger

Today I ran into an issue where one T60 refuses to power on with a certain charger. That charger works with other thinkpads, and the T60 in question works with other chargers.

Is this something that others have run into, and does it mean the charger is on the edge of being bad? That the laptop is finicky in its old age? Both?

T60 seem extra sensitive.

Chargers are mysterious littlest black boxes in their own right.
