[HELP] T61 won't boot into BIOS setup (Linux Mint)

I've been trying to troubleshoot a liveUSB failing to boot properly for the last 2 hours, and I made a discovery: I can't boot into my BIOS setup and the Boot Device Selection locks up the system.
If I try to enter setup, the screen refreshes and it transitions to the Mint boot screen. I tried to force reboot into setup, when I realised that my BIOS is set to UEFI, so my only option is to initialise the setup from a cold boot or reboot, which doesn't work. Would this have something to do with me installing middletons BIOS or running Mint, right? The only way I have been able to boot into BIOS is by disconnecting the CMOS battery and reinstalling it, and I don't want to do that every time I need to access BIOS. Any pointers?
