Red Trackpoint Buttons from X200

Hello,

I have a FrankenPad T60/T61p (which I call 'T601') and I am very happy with it overall. I use it as a repository for 98 and XP -eras gaming and offline file storage.
However, I've always loved the T4x generations' designs over the T6x generation. I happen to think that the T61p is superior in every way to the T43p except in looks.
And so, I have been looking to perform a mod to change the black trackpoint keys to red and blue ones.

I've found sparse information from an older thread on this forum, but I do not understand the German websites and instructions.

It seems that I will need to take an X200 keyboard and use some magic involving a cutting knife and super glue.

I am wondering if anyone who is active here knows how to perform this mod, and can help me with some extra information.
I also have a X61 with an IBM X60s lid/screen and IBM X61 palmrest (which I call the X601) and want to do the same mod on it as well.

Wouldn't it be simpler to apply some style (paint / coating / sticker) to the existing black buttons?
