Rapid restore vs System Restore

What is the difference between Rapid Restore and the XP System Restore? Are they running at the same time? Should one be disabled? It seems like they are doing the same thing. Just got my X40 and love it.

System restore and rapid restore let you roll back your files to a previous state. System restore is not worth much in my opinion and I keep it disabled (go to start-control panel-system-choose system restore tab- check turn off system restore). System restore only lets you backup essential system files. Rapid restore makes an image of your entire hard drive - all system files, applications, documents, etc. Everything. If you have trouble with your system (for example with a virus) you can choose to go back to a previous backup. The first image you create might take some time to create, but subsequent backups will be incremental, and usually only take a few minutes. If you back up to your hard drive (when you use rapid restore you'll be given a choice) you'll give up some space of course, but it is worth considering backing up. Make sure you download and install the latest version of rapid restore (now called rescue and recovery with rapid restore) from IBM:
