Hi,
I have an X20 with a dead embedded controller after encountering USB/FDD floppy errors during the flashing process[1].
I see that the EC is a 64F3437TF16, with a separate power supply for the flash part to allow it to be programmed externally (without code running on the MCU).
Does anyone know if this is possible with the processor in situ, or does it need to be lifted off the board first?
Presumably IBM had some way to reprogram these without desoldering the chip?
[1]: the DOS utility proceeded to flash the chip with something after loading the image off the floppy failed, I guess there's no checksum/CRC or anything!!
Thanks,
Chris.
