X32 screen goes black when is loading the OS

so i found an X32 for sale and bought it. The problem is that when I try to boot the OS the screen goes black. I tried reinstalling Windows, swapping RAM sticks, Swapping HDD, Swapping PSU to no avail. Is there something i'm missing?

Can you boot a Linux Live USB stick?
Does Windows Pre-OS environment (installer) work fine, and the issue is only during first boot post-install?

Hi dr_st. I didn't try a Linux stick, but the Windows installer works until it's the time for the first boot comes. It's weird, never seen something like this. What version of linux live do you recommend trying?

Another symptom is that if i change something in the BIOS, when it reboots stays all black with only a light on, screen off.

Oh, Windows 98?
Did you try maybe Windows XP? That's the version that the X32 was designed to run on.

I'll give it a go, but I don't think that's the problem. Sometimes it happens when you try to acces the BIOS
Also, a new CMOS Battery didn't change the behavior, but hey, at least I don't have to update the date every time I turn it on.

Didn't even get to half a setup with XP before the screen went black.

Hi Gonzaleitor. Have you tried to clean the RAM slot itself and the contacts on the modules? This kind of behavior could indicate faulty motherboard i am afraid.

I don't remember if I already cleaned the RAM slots, but I'll try again. I'm guessing the same as you. It's a shame because is in really good cosmetic shape. I guess that i'lll use it for parts if can't get through this.

If i were you I would wash the motherboard, since it might be dead anyway. I managed to fix ram slot on my PC by doing so. It was obviously just a dirt, but i couldn't make it work with alcohol so i gave it a shower. Works perfectly fine since then.

Been busy with work these days, but i'll try with the RAM slots first. If that doesn't work i'll try the shower.
