Opinion on ShikaRAM kti?
The chips say kti on them and I got a pair of the 512mb DDR333 @ Office Depot today for the same price I would've ordered through Crucial.com minus the wait time.
Will using generic ram affect overall stability of the system and is IBM picky when it comes to which ram it takes?

I can't speak to your specific ram, but I bought mine from Kingston, and the first 512 card I bought created instability. I called them, they had me read numbers off the RAM and sent me a different "version" of the RAM, which has worked fine for several months now (in fact, I ended up getting two of them). So I would say that there could be some PC2700 RAM that might cause instability. Just be aware of the return policy when you buy. I found Kingston to be very knowledgable and helpful, no problem to exchange the RAM at their expense.

You're passing electricity through electrical components. Of course it's going to get hot
Too bad we can't ignore thermo.
mpcook, do you know what the different version is? I stuck a 512 Corsair (my favorite brand. I think they're the best in terms of stability and ability to overclock) chip in with no problems.

So far, no problems. However, I monitor it with a temperature program, DTEMP.
