Hi,
need some help from you about Thermal Pad and thickness for some IBM/Lenovo models, down is the list. In HMM I did not find anything about Thermal Pads and thickness or maybe I missed the Content. I would appreciate if you could help me, thanks.

Re: Thermal Pad - (Thickness)
The general opinion is 1mm to max. 1.5mm thick.
Never seen an official IBM/Lenovo statement about it.

Re: Thermal Pad - (Thickness)
From personal experience, 1.5mm is too thick for the X61. I'd pick 1mm max.RealBlackStuff wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2024 4:49 amThe general opinion is 1mm to max. 1.5mm thick.

Re: Thermal Pad - (Thickness)
I will take booth size from Thermal Pad because I find here that the best size mach for T60p is 1.5mm, so just in case to have this thickness too, but in smaller size (85x45mm) 21W, for X61/X61s I will take (100x100mm) 21W because I have IBM X60s x 2 pcs., and Lenovo X61s x 4 pcs., one X61T and one X61, all together 6. Laptops waiting for me already.
Thank you for the suggestions, you have helped me a lot.

Re: Thermal Pad - (Thickness)
Small correction, they have talking about using a 1.5mm Copper Shim on T60, so I will take only 1.00mm size of Thermal Pad.

Re: Thermal Pad - (Thickness)
I just replaced the thermo pad in my X61T. The original one was 0.5mm thick so I replaced it with the same thickness.

Your 'original' one was compressed/flattened after all these years!
The original size was 1mm.

Re: Thermal Pad - (Thickness)
Thanks. I should have thought of that. Oh well, I have a heavy duty cooling system coming in the mail so I'll change the pad when it arrives. Luckily, the thermal pads I bought can be stacked.RealBlackStuff wrote: ↑Mon May 12, 2025 2:22 amYour 'original' one was compressed/flattened after all these years!
