x60 tablet motherboard upgrade

I have an x60 tablet with the 64 bit cpu and the 1400x1050 AFFS panel. I've began to fall in love with it as it is excellent for writing notes with its resolution, aspect ratio, and pretty screen.

The more I use it the more im itching for faster performance (and 8gb). I am wondering is it possible to swap an x61 tablet mobo in?

I am also wondering about LED kits, i am assuming this is possible, but where to find the parts? I am thinking the "daylight kit" from https://people.xiph.org/~xiphmont/think ... -kit.shtml is the best option but i would like a confirmation on this.

edit: another thing i figure'd id ask.. the hinge is very floppy, im wondering if theres any way to tighten it? Or perhaps i could swap my panel into the x61 chassis in the case that its hinge isnt worn out.

There's an LED screen kit from an Aliexpress seller named Kevin's Trade shop you can look into, I don't think he sells the LED kit separately so you'd have to buy the whole display and kit, with the tablet one being the most expensive. If you're comfortable with the idea of doing a bulb swap yourself, you could ask him about just an LED kit.

It is absolutely possible to straight-swap an X61 Tablet board into an X60 Tablet, although the easier thing to do is just to locate an entire donor X61T and then just remove the screen assembly from the X60T and plonk it onto the X61T, that's exactly what I did. That'd also give you an opportunity to swap the hinge.

If your hinge is floppy, what you might want to look for is maybe the hinge just cracked on one "arm" or side of the hinge, how it works is that in the screen assembly two "arms" extend left and right from the swivel base, attaching to the screen assembly from there. It's very common that one of these arms cracks, and the other arm stays connected. Each arm provides a friction which normally holds the screen firmly in position while allowing for adjustment with reasonable effort, but just one arm attached of course will half that friction and make the assembly much more floppy. If both arms are attached, I don't think there's any means of "tightening" it... you'll still likely need a whole other hinge.

An L7500/L7700 will be an incremental but welcome upgrade for sure, especially after installing a modbios- you'll be able to mount newer Wifi cards which will help cooling and connectivity. 8GB RAM is very expensive with 2x 4GB DDR2 modules, it's around $50-55 here in the US. But if you use the machine a lot and like using it, I'd say it's worth the investment.
