X61t flash bios

#1 Post by deickos » Sat Jan 25, 2025 5:19 pm

Decided to put a samsung ssd in this machine so i will have to install the bios update for sata2 speeds, the thing is i have win 7 64bit and have to flash the iso somehow (doing it in windows only works for 32bit). I have thought some workarounds but would like to hear from someone who has done it already...

The standard suggestion is to burn the ISO on a CD or to a bootable USB stick (using a tool like Rufus), boot from that, and perform the BIOS update.

I have a vague memory of a successful BIOS flash on 64-bit Windows 7, but used a different (probably newer) version of the windows-based flashing program. But it's been more than a decade since I did that, so I can't remember the specifics.
Planned Purchase: T480s i5-8350 FHD Touch
Impulse Buy: Thinkpad not named for safety reasons

have tried that and nothing happened (or was flashed successfully in a split second?)

I do not think so. You probably need to get into the BIOS and configure your laptop to boot from that CD/USB.
