Where's the lid sensor?
Where's the lid sensor?
So, I got my X60 painted...looks great. Only problem is, the lid sensor doesn't seem to be working at the moment. I can't really tell what's going on ... the X60 doesn't seem to have a traditional lid sensor. Does anyone have any idea where it's located and how I might fix it?
The lid sensor on the X60 is actually a magnet located on the left side of the center label on the bottom of lcd where the lights are. you can see the to the right of the ribbon cable for the lcd there is a small sensor for the pickup.
X60s 1704-69U Core Duo L2400, 2 gigs DDR2 100 gig SATA DVD-RW
R40 2722- P-M 1.7, 1 gig PC2700, 60 Gig HDD

Lid switch
Do you mean there is a magnet on the lid, and a reed-switch on the notebook proper? Would this be exactly above the F6 key?
I just took the front of the lid panel off. There is a small plastic recess where the tiny square magnet goes held in by a tiny piece of sticky stuff. I removed the goop, tested to see if the magnet orientation matters (it does, obviously), then put it back with the correct polarity.
Removing the panel was rather difficult and I'm pretty sure I snapped a couple of the cheap plastic latches in the process. =P But you can't tell once the lid is back on and there are so many attach points it doesn't really matter.

Re: Where's the lid sensor?
It's an old thread. Anyway I still use this Notebook and can confirm the lid sensor which unfortunately isn't mentioned in maintenance manual explicitly.
After changing my display I couldn't reliably go into suspend mode as in my rucksack the computer waked up. So I removed the small plastic stripe from the sensor and stuffed the sensor into the gap downwards so that it stands orthogonal on the battery and "looks" to the rear where no magnet is. (next measure would have been a cut-off) Now I have to press Fn/Power to wake up but this is fine for me.
