WQHD MacOs scaling on t430s?

I currently have a t430s which I just finished the hackintosh process on. It currently has a 900p screen, but I am considering/planning to get a 1440p screen in there sometime. However, after using it normally and connected to 1080p screens, the scaling does not act the same as on the 4k Macs at school. In this case I had a choice between 900p and 720p, and 1080p when connected to a monitor, whereas the Macs have 5 default scaling options ranging from 1440p to 720p on a 4k screen. In fact, at 720p, it looks like it's just being scaled up and not necessarily rendered differently. I am a bit concerned after seeing this, because I expected to have a combo of Mac scaling and 1440p but it looks like it is possible that won't work out. Does anyone know if those better scaling options show up for bigger resolutions, or if it requires some sort of hardware acceleration?
And while I'm here, does anyone happen to know about getting thunderbolt to work?

Mac's have 16:10 screens, your T430s has a 16:9 screen.
That's why you get a difference.
The last Lenovo 16:10 were T400/R400/T410/T500/R500/W500
Anything newer all have 16:9 (screw you, Lenovo! )

Actually, the Macs I used have 16:9 screens. MacBooks do have 16:10 screens, but I don't understand how the main screen's aspect ratio changes anything about scaling compatibility, since they can use scaling with any other external screen.
