Windows 7 Sleep problem
Windows 7 Sleep problem
Ive searched the internet and seen this is a rather common problem and not just happening on thinkpads but have not been able to find a fix.
I have a new X201 and anytime i put it in sleep mode it wakes to a windows error recovery screen. It appears to windows that it shut down improperly. Anyone know how to resolve this? I tried changing it to a Hybrid sleep mode and that didnt help at all.

Re: Windows 7 Sleep problem
FYI, this has recently started to happen occasionally with my X200s. I've attributed it to a driver update, but haven't really looked into it in any detail as it only happens once in a while.

Re: Windows 7 Sleep problem
I have this too and I'm trying to debug it, perhaps we could isolate any potential causes in common in this thread.
I have an x201 2x2gb win7 64bit stock but with an intel SSD, and get the "Windows Error Recovery" screen typically after the pc hibernates after sleep when on battery power - but not exclusively that pattern. The only way to reproduce the crash is to let the PC sleep, manually triggering sleep doesn't seem to cause a crash.
Event log doesn't show much, 41 Kernel-Power for the reboot.
I've read that symptoms like this can be caused by ram errors, bios or drivers.
So I ran the windows memory diagnostic, and updated all the drivers. I did however have a bit of trouble unconfiguring intel amt so it wouldn't slow down the bios post and disable thermal monitoring.
I currently suspect the intel RST sata driver because of this thread

Re: Windows 7 Sleep problem
I had a few of the problems reported with the X201 during the first week I had it. Some of them disappeared after I updated the BIOS. Then I clean-installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit deleting ALL partitions in the process. Before doing this I set everything in the BIOS to "default" and removed all passwords. After the Windows install, I installed the ThinkVantage Toolbox and let the Lenovo Updater do its thing. Not one problem since. I'm using only Lenovo's drivers. I did disable AMT in the BIOS (or was it disabled by default? Can't remember). Anyway, I have no use for AMT... I'm not a "business user" with an IT department managing my laptop.

Re: Windows 7 Sleep problem
I found this forum with the same problem - sleep mode wasn't working. Updated the drivers from Lenovo and went from intermittent problems to 100% fail. Turning off Intel AMT solved my problem, thanks raydabruce!
