motherboard for x200

#1 Post by jenbooks13 » Wed Mar 05, 2025 3:20 pm

Hi, my x200 motherboard died (my fault? I spilled some seltzer). The first motherboard i got on ebay doesn't work as my computer guy says "it's not the right revision." He said I have an older revision on this one that has intel core 2. He said: 63Y1068 and referred me to a motherboard on ebay for about $50 plus $11 shipping he thinks might be right

I don't want to make another mistake so thought maybe you folks could help me. Thanks!

The motherboard you linked seems to be a genuine X200 motherboard with a P8400 CPU (2.26ghz dual core). Maybe you were looking at an X201 motherboard instead and that is what he was talking about with "revision"? But even then X201 motherboard should work in X200 and vice versa. I don't know if I'd recommend it though, you get a faster CPU that runs considerably hotter (from what I hear, never owned one).

The FRU 63Y1068 is also an X200 motherboard, but with a P8700 CPU (2.53ghz dual core). Looks to be considerably more expensive on eBay though.

I found another P8400 board (brand new) for a little bit less here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/395704395310

Either this one or the one you linked should be just fine :D

Thanks! I appreciate this! I sent your info on to Austin, my computer fixer-upper :-). With his approval I'll buy the one you found on ebay.
