Re: X220 FHD Upgrade?
We're talking Russia here. So he's got to take like a trunkfull of vodkas, go to the customs office. First 10 bottles takes him to the building, then there's 5 chocolate boxes and flower for lady secretaries, then the remaining 35 bottles are un-evenly redistributed to custom officers. He then goes back home awaiting phonecalls in the middle of the night:)
I'm scared to ask final prices of those kits:)

You're talking about the "good old days"!
My guess is that nowadays you do this online, provided you pay in Bitcoin into a Swiss bank account...

Re: X220 FHD Upgrade?
@nitrocaster, did you notice a higher cpu temp/a louder fan with the FHD screen attached? Because if i plug in an external FHD monitor via VGA, the fan turns up within seconds.

I didn't. The power consumption is a bit higher though.prime07 wrote:@nitrocaster, did you notice a higher cpu temp/a louder fan with the FHD screen attached? Because if i plug in an external FHD monitor via VGA, the fan turns up within seconds.

Re: X220 FHD Upgrade?
Have to wait for the cables. Boards don't work without them.

There is still no link... The cables needed for the cards still did not arrive (in custom clearance right now), so at the moment still we need to wait...jabavox wrote:@nitrocaster, How do i register as buyer? What am i missing?

We can do a queue of buyers, even if I think there aren't 60 buyers here. Not yet.

This is up to nitro and no one else - just my personal opinion.
A supportive MOD wrote: this is indeed strictly nitrocaster's business!
He has announced that there will be a separate thread offering these mod-kits when they are ready.
So please leave him in peace until then!

Where did I say something different?
I only suggested a way to organize, not what has to do Nitro. Far from me disturbing Nitro in his business. Instead this willing to have the piece is the appreciation of his work. This is all.

Without anything to plug into the input, I don't think I can test them, can I? (Say, directly from the mini-DP port..?)

Re: X220 FHD Upgrade?
Pepe!
What do you think about putting a 13 inch into the x230 (like the x330)? Do you know how kingkonglue did this physically. I.e. what bevel was used etc.
Ideally I would use a 13 inch 1080. Would that be compatible with your mod?

Re: X220 FHD Upgrade?
Interest peeked!
Have a "few" X220's in i7 and i5 flavors.
So it seems the i7 version needs a resistor (or cap?) removed. This will not affect anything else?
Might attempt it on an i5 first...
