Removing spacebar on the X220

#1 Post by Kocane » Fri Dec 19, 2025 5:24 pm

The spacebar of my X220 keyboard has begun to be quite loud, making a very clacky sound when pressed.

I figured that perhaps a very few dabs of some fitting oil on the hinges undernearth it could make the action of it be more smooth?

However, I'm scared of ruining the spacebar. Does anyone have any tips on how to remove it on this keyboard?

I usually pry from the top with two hands.
The sides (the direction I'd recommend for every other key because it minimizes the chance of breaking tabs) doesn't work because of how long the space bar is.
