T410S & T420S CPU Question

#1 Post by WoodyinMN » Fri Feb 19, 2021 11:41 am

Howdy,

Quick question on the T410S & T420S . Are the CPU's soldered on these? Or are they replaceable?

Thanks,

- b

Yes, they are soldered, same as the T430s. Quad core motherboards are made by Chinese modders similar to the X230.

Don't put a quad core on an 's' machine. Even if it's possible, it'll overheat horribly. It can barely keep up with the regular dual core (many people complain about the heat and fan noise in those models) as it is.

For the sake of ecology I donated all my classic Thinkpads.

If a 35W part is used it should be fine, similar to the X230 quad core mod.
