We have a ThinkPad T400 running in the study room for my dad. Its mainly services as stock markets monitoring and exchanging machine. It worked fine for quite long time.

But start from last week, the system drive C turning into red, only left 1GB. And its slow down the system. I got a new 240GB SSD from Lenovo, and plan to migrate all the data, apps and system from HHD to the SSD so that I don't need to spend whole week reinstall a new system and all software from scratch. Does anyone know how to do that?

I haven't change anything since I got this laptop, still running windows 7 professional preinstalled. and it still have ThinkVantage suite. I don't want to change anything, just want copy all the stuff from old HDD to SDD.

Boot up to the Hiren's Boot CD (or USB if you prefer) and use one of the included utilities to do a disk-to-disk copy.

Here is a guide: https://www.diskpart.com/clone/hirens-b ... -0001.html

I've used an old version of an Acronis boot disk to use its utilities to do the same in the past as well.

Or get a USB-to-SATA 2.5" adapter and use the free Macrium Reflect software.

use Acronis, it works great. Just make sure that you boot from it with UEFI instead of legacy, otherwise the clone will be legacy only.
