T520 motherboard CMOS battery socket polarity

#1 Post by freeagent » Thu Jul 20, 2023 3:51 pm

Does anyone have a T520 motherboard (mine is 04W3254 ) or picture that might show which pin of the motherboard socket is the positive?

Reason - When I unplugged the battery, the plastic socket came out too. The pins are still there. The socket housing just makes sure you plug in with correct polarity. But with mine being out, I need to know which way to put it back in!

RBS said pictures he has seen show the red on the right (Opt Drv) side. The ones I found are kind of blurry when blown up, but I think he is probably right. Just wanted to confirm before I do even more damage ;)

OK, I confirmed from pictures & shape of wires that it is RED/POS/Right.

Unfortunately resetting CMOS didn't help with my no-boot issue.

Checking a boardview of the W520/T520, the CMOS uses connector CN4 and the + (red wire) goes indeed to the right-side pin ('nearest' to the CD-drive).
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
But I actually prefer Murphy's from Cork!
