Hello to the group,
I have a new SL300 and have been experiencing the dreaded "dropped wireless connection" issues. Here is the setup I am using:
SL300 Intel Core 2 Duo T5870 2GB ram, Vista Home Basic.
Belkin G+ router with the latest firmware, using WPA/WPA-2 PSK security
All MS updates have been applied. All Lenovo updates, including BIOS have been done.
I loose the wireless connection at least once per day, and usually more often than that
Even when I cannot make an HTTP connection to a website, I am able to used TCP/IP to successfully ping the site.
The SL300 will work without connectivity problems when using an Ethernet cable.
Two other Thinkpads T series laptops and one HP are working on the wireless network without issues.
Problem occurs whether using a ZoneAlarm or the Windows Vista firewall.
The following programs have been uninstalled one at a time between connection failures.
A. Thinkpad Power Manager
B. ThinkVantage Access Connections
C. Presentation Director
Connection drops persist even when running with all three were uninstalled.
Power Manager was set form Max. Performance.
The Atheros 11b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Express Adapter III has the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" box unchecked.
Any advice, other than calling Lenovo tech support, would be greatly appreciated.
thanks, Robert
