For some inexplicable reason, the fingerprint reader on my W500 (Vista) keeps flashing the "too short" message constantly.
Upon boot, as soon as the fingerprint reader is ready, it starts putting up the "too short" dialog. If I'm quick, I can swipe my finger between dialogs, and it then logs in.
However, if I then lock the system, the "too short" dialog keeps popping up so quickly that I can't swipe. Fortunately, I can get in with the regular keyboard password.
Hardware fault or software fault? Should I take it in for repair? It's a pretty new system.
[Fixed] I went to the add/remove programs control panel, clicked on the Fingerprint Software entry, and then "Repair". Works fine now.
