Q: Does A31 Have A Lid Close Switch?

#1 Post by TPFanatic » Wed May 01, 2024 3:48 pm

Does A31 have a lid-close sensor? Mine doesn’t seem to have one, or it does and it doesn’t work. Since it predates T40/R50 which had the mechanically operated switch, and I see nothing like it on A31, does it just not exist?

Of course it does, it's tucked away nicely in the top right side of the palmrest. Seems like the ThinkPads don't like using hall sensors, which actually there are mechanical hall sensors at the time, I remember seeing one such mechanical one on Dells, where it is two pieces of metal inside a vacuum glass container, if you put a magnet close to it you can see the two pieces of metal actually touching each other.

Yeah my A30 lid sensor plastic did fall off once before as well and it's easy to miss until you realise lid close does nothing...
