Z60m resigns from being operational-- fuse blown?
Z60m resigns from being operational-- fuse blown?
So, this laptop was perfectly working good when I got it for a measly $3. Had a fresh titanium lid and everything.
In the middle of installing a fresh, clean Windows, the laptop did not give any clues that the battery was dying. And suddenly, wham! Power off. And I did everything I could to try to power it on.
- Try again with battery plugged in. Nothing.
- Try again with AC plugged in. Nothing. AC light does not blink, not even for a single second.
- Try again with AC plugged in, and battery removed. Nothing. No sign of life.
- Try again with AC plugged in, with power drained using the old fashioned techniques. Nothing.
- Try again with battery plugged in after everything I've done. Nothing.
Dead motherboard? I really want to not pay much to fix this precious piece of computing power...

I have a Z60m motherboard with ATI X600 sitting on my shelf, it worked the last time it was in the laptop. Perhaps I can ship it to you?

OK, dead motherboard it is, ahoy! The battery works fine on my bricked T60. I would like a motherboard shipped, but my laptop is a 2531-MJU. I want to keep everything as close as possible to the original if I want to go for replacements, which may be even harder...

I should have such motherboard (with X300), PM me if needed. This exact one sits on the shelf for years now

x300 and x600 boards are same design, same heatsink. Even the driver for the GPU is same for both. Why sticking with lame x300?
I did look into Z60m awhile ago to acquire one but did not pan out.
Cheers, thinkpadcollection

Have you tried another charger and/or another wall socket?
Re: Z60m resigns from being operational-- fuse blown?
Necrobump. I revived it through power cycling the AC adapter. I thought that destroys computers, but apparently on a blue moon, it does the opposite! Cardbus and WiFi are fried and thus no longer work, but that is the price I will pay! It's doing quite good in Linux with pci=realloc.
