Windows 7 release timeline (incl Lenovo drivers)

Microsoft has announced the availability schedule for Windows 7 RTM.....

For those with some level of "industry" access... availability basically starts through appropriate channels from early August for English language versions, and October for other language versions.

I just read the upgrade paths for Windows 7 from my Technet Flash email.

You get to upgrade to Windows 7 from Windows 7, and a few versions only of Vista. Nothing else.

It doesn't matter a lot to me because I will replace my IBM Desktop with an IBM Windows 7 Preload.

From the Lenovo Forum in late August 2009...

• Ok, This is pretty much as "official" as it's gonna get. Lenovo will post final Win 7 WHQL certified drivers on or about October 22 to coincide with the official Microsoft release date of Windows 7. Lenovo will begin supporting (via the help center) our Windows 7 preload and the Windows 7 upgrades. I am not sure of our support for Windows 7 RTM code, but will send the question up the chain.
