Hi,
I've posted a similar question on the X41 forum, but I wanted to see if anyone who has installed Win 7 can answer this.
I have a X41 tablet that does not have an operating system or recovery CD. I was going to install a copy of Win XP Pro and then upgrade to Win 7 when it comes out. Since I don't have a recovery CD, I'm missing drivers needed for using the tablet features. So, does anyone know if installing Win 7 Pro will add the necessary tablet drivers, or do I still need a set of recovery CD's?
Thanks,
Gary

Re: Will Win 7 Pro upgrade install drivers needed for X41 tablet
Gary:
Windows 7 (and Vista) contain the tablet functions as part of the operating system; you do not need a special edition like you did with WinXP.
The base install plus Windows Update will get most of the hardware drivers needed for the X41T. The few remaining drivers for the Lenovo-specific hardware (Tablet buttons, Hotkey Driver, Tablet Shortcut Menu, APS) can be downloaded from the Lenovo Win7 driver page. See the sticky post at the top of this forum for the link.
BTW - you cannot upgrade from XP to Win7; you must do a clean install. But having XP on the tablet will allow the installer to verify that you have a qualifying Microsoft OS installed, thus it will allow you to proceed with the clean install.
